Library Corner for April 21/2010
by Susanne Tremblay
Spring is finally here and Mother’s Day is just around the corner! Children ages 7 to 15 are invited to join in a stamping session at the library with Donald Brown on April 24th: 7 to 9 years @ 11 am and 10 to 15 years @ 2 pm. There is no cost, but you MUST preregister, so call the Library at (780) 524-3033 to reserve a spot for your child.
Spring also means it’s time for the Annual General Meeting of our Valleyview Municipal Library Board. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 19th at 7 pm in the library. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
The library is now pleased to offer ‘Global Road Warrior’ to patrons. This is a great resource for anyone looking for current information about all facets of every country in the world. The site is constantly being updated and, in addition to country facts such as Climate, it includes topics like: Tipping; Business Attire; Advice for Female Travellers. So, even if you are not planning a trip or doing research for a school project, check out the link on our website: www.valleyviewlibrary.ab.ca and let us know what you think!
Preparations are in the works for the Summer Reading Program in July and August. The theme this year is Destination Jungle. Watch for more details in the library, at school and in the Valleyview Valley Views as we get closer to the summer.
Some local artists have set up an Arts & Crafts Display in the Gallery at the library. This display will be open to the public until May 8th. Be sure to stop by during library hours and see what they have created.
The library is open: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 11 am to 5 pm; Wednesday 11 am to 8 pm and Friday 11 am to 6 pm. We can be contacted at 780 524 3033.
Have a great spring!
