Weeded entire collection; Summer Reading Club was fun and successful; we won a set of 50 children’s books from the Centre for Family Literacy in the SRC contest; Friends of the Library did a movie of the month presentation; Friends of the Library purchased furnishings and set up an Adult Quiet Reading Corner; Switched the back room of the library which had been used as a staff work room to a Program Room as the space is bigger and has access to a sink; moved staff into the old program room which will now be staff office and work space. Nine new front-facing book display units were built at Peace River Corrections funded by a grant from Pembina.

Comments from Annual Report:
Plan of Service update; Friends of the Library very active with fundraising – three major fundraisers: cash calendar, purchased new blinds for the gallery and front library windows; summer reading club prizes sponsored; monthly movies; guest speakers and a live puppet/marionette show.
Repainted the entire library, visitors appreciated the fresh new look. 4H Club volunteered to move shelving before and after painting. Partnerships with Family Literacy and Adult Learning for Rhyme Time, Books for Babies, Early Years Expo, Pajama Time.
More community groups using the library for a meeting space including photography club; dance club and many rural families use the library as a safe after school space where kids can come before their evening programs; Toastmasters meets here weekly; drop off point for Santas’ Anonymous; 4H had their club speak off competition in the gallery.
STEP program ended, so we had to budget for a summer student from our own funds.
Our community lost some high-volume library users who retired/relocated to other communities, so we had a decline in circulations.
DVD collection increased by 200 titles in 2013. We got rid of all the VHS tapes through the book sale.
Zinio – online magazine subscription started through the provincial government.

Comments from Annual Report:
Held our first Free Comic Book Day event with a mini-comic convention that attracted over 300 visitors. The library is always busy with different community groups like Family Literacy, adult literacy, Parent Link, Anime Club, Cosmology Club, Photography Club, Valleyview Early Childhood Coalition, and Toastmasters. Installed a people counter to try to more accurately track visitors. Our library board applied for and was approved to become the board for the CALP program grant in our community as a result of the folding of Valleyview Further Education. First year that we implemented Summer hours.
